Lunch!

This picture was taken in early February. I had been stalking the fox as I had seen it run after several squirrels. Finally at one point I saw it crouch behind a snow bank. The innocent squirrel had not seen it hiding and so it naturally sauntered on th snow directly in front of it. The fox immediately pounced on the squirrel, hitting it several times with its paws. The squirrel then did a curious thing as it buried its head in the snow. The only thing that was visible was its bushy tail. The fox was still grasping it in its paws and trying to bite it when suddenly the squirrel emerged and made a run for the nearest tree. But the fox was quicker, pouncing on the squirrel and bit into it. Lunchtime for the fox.
