The intruder.

This picture was taken in mid-September. I was looking for subjects in the botanical garden when suddenly in the alpine area of the garden I saw this cat. It was perched on a rock ledge and seemed to be waiting for something and I knew exactly what; it was hunting the Eastern chipmunk, a small squirrel. The cat had probably seen the chipmunk going in and out of crevices in the rock formation and was waiting to pounce on it. It never happened, at least for the time that I observed the scene. Eventually the cat got tired of waiting and slinked away.
