The american goldfinch.

This picture was taken in mid-June. These birds are found throughout America and most of Canada. Also called the wild canary, this species is familiar and common. Their main foods are seeds and so they do not nest until mid-summer or later until weed seeds are available. These birds remain in flocks much later than other birds. I was lucky to catch this one. I approached from the back and then slowly turned on it to take a pretty good picture of it. But without my 75-300 mm zoom it would not have been possible.
