The dark-eyed junco.

This is one of the small birds that quite intrigued me as it went to the feeding stations at times, but rarely on the station but more on the ground, where seeds had fallen. I did not have much success at first trying to get a picture of it as it was very shy, hiding in the hedges that were near the stations. Finally, one went on the ground, in sunlight, and I was able to take several pictures.

This bird can be found throughout North America in different varieties and different colors it seems.

Canon XTI, Canon zoom lens 75-300mm, iso200, f/8.0, 1/500sec.
