Nice blue…

Sometimes one comes across a flower so alien looking that one cannot help but take pictures of, as was my case with this flower. This big flower that was of a bluish color really attracted my attention in early September. It was flowering in an area of the garden along with several others. At first, the plant looked like a giant artichoke. Then, slowly it sprouted, opening up slowly over a few days. Finally, all the long filaments that make up the flower turn out and become a deep blue bordering on purple. It dies out quite rapidly, over a matter of a few days.
