The monarch at work!

I love butterflies, they are perhaps my favourite subject. They are a  beautiful but difficult subject to take pictures of as they are constantly on the move. They do sometimes linger on on some flowers and that is the best time to capture them. This picture taken at the end of August was one of many that I had taken that day, for on some days butterflies are easy to find while on other days, they seem to be absent.

This butterfly is called the monarch butterfly, a very common species in the summer months.

Canon XTI, Sigma macro lens 150mm, iso800, f/7.1, 1/1000sec.
