The mating season has begun!

As the weather gets better and the temperature rises, insect activity rises as well. The warmer the climate and the more one sees insects busy….mating. All insects have certain periods of the spring and summer when they are actively seeking mates. In the picture below, I caught a couple of butterflies in the act, and I was able to approach them easily. Usually, butterflies that are busy finding flowers for their food will not stay long on them and this decreases the chances of getting a good picture. Butterflies are a favourite of mine but notoriously difficult to get close-ups of, especially with a short lense like I have, 50mm.
